A Visit From Grandad and Granny Kim!

April 8th-10th

We were lucky to have Grandad and Granny Kim visit for an eventful weekend.  They came for Annika's blessing - but they were here in perfect time for Grandad's birthday and Branson's birthday party.  We even made time to celebrate my birthday which wasn't until Tuesday.  I'm glad that we were able to share some time together - and it was really good for our kids.  In fact since we go through such long spurts of not seeing each other, the kids don't have a huge desire to maintain their relationship (understandably).  But all it took was one weekend together to change that.  The kids have been talking about and asking for Grandad and Granny Kim ever since they left.  What a great weekend!
Granny Kim bought Irelynn an adorable tutu skirt and little matching shirt. Irelynn loves how "fluffy" it is.

Annika is such a snuggly baby. She was good the whole weekend.

Grandad played with Branson a lot. They vroomed cars, wrestled, and played Angry Birds on Grandad's IPad. Branson's obsessed with Angry Birds.

On Friday afternoon we visited Natalya's Musical Theater class and watched them rehearse Alice in Wonderland.

Later that night Rob and Kim treated Brian and I to The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate my birthday!  Thanks to my parents, it was a kid-free occasion.  (With the exception of Annika, of course.  But she slept the entire time.)  Thank you!!

It was Grandad's actual birthday on Saturday - so we got to celebrate with him! Here he is the morning of his birthday coming down the stairs.
We serenaded him with a "Happy Birthday" song, bought him a funny book, and drew Happy Birthday pictures - one for each stair. Then later that night, we made him a birthday dinner. But in between all that, we had Branson's birthday party...

I let Branson choose 3 friends to join us Saturday for his birthday party.  Andrew has been his best friend since we moved to this part of town almost 4 years ago, Ashton is his little church buddy, and Boston is his favorite neighbor from around the corner.

It was a draw between a Spider-Man themed party and HotWheels.  He finally chose Spider-Man.  Here we are singing a super loud Happy Birthday song.  I think Natalya is playing an air guitar.

An Oreo cake made with Oreo pudding served with Oreo ice cream.  Branson's favorite cookie must be Oreo.  :)

After cake and ice cream, Grandad, Grandaddy, and Dad took the boys to King Putt indoor miniature golf.  It was an all-boy occasion!

The boys LOVE glow-in-the-dark.  On top of the black light, we got them each glow bands.

Happy 5th Birthday, Big Guy!
